It must be the fact that Coachella is over (what, Weekend 2 who?) or that summer is fast approaching, but this week, my inbox is supa full of requests for itineraries. From Thailand to Taipei, Ibiza to Iceland, there’s too many questions in the kitchen. So, for the next few weeks, I’m going to pick and publish the plans for all of you to see. Summer Solstice by Numbers: Everyone from Takashi Murakami to Modern day Mayans are counting down till the official start of Summer. It’s our last hour before we start creeping back towards winter, so let’s check out some facts…. and hey, it’s my birthday and I can blog if I want to….

15 hours, 51 minutes: Amount of sunlight today

5 p.m: Time I will sneak out of work because it’s “the first day of summer” 

1:16 p.m (17:16 Universal Time): The time June solstice hits and Summer officially begins.

23.5 degrees: The position when the summer solstice occurs, the sun will appear to be shining directly overhead at a point on the Tropic of Cancer, between Andros Island and Cuba

48: Number of states where the sun can’t be seen directly overhead

73 degrees: The highest location the sun can reach in New York today, about four-fifths of the way up from the horizon to the point directly overhead.

138: Number of Pyramids in Egypt built with the sun in mind; when viewed from the Sphinx, the sun will set directly between two Pyramids today. 

5,000: Number of years that Stonehenge has been associated with the summer solstice.

I love nothing more than dressing the part, especially when the part is that of a Hamptons resident. It’s the time of year when I move my moves East of Manhattan and shack up in Sag Harbor. A place where jean shorts can get you anywhere (except into Sen at 9 pm) and small town luxuries come in the form of Lobster Rolls. I can’t pretend, or play it cool. I am stoked to flee the NYC and make my way to a little place known as the Hamptons. What’s on my radar? Here are the first five stops I’ll be making… 

Stay. Ruschmeyer’s Montauk.
I’m heading to Montauk tonight to check out the revamped Second House via the The Surf Lodge folk. Ruschmeyer’s looks like my Indian Summer dream equipped with 19 ‘cabins’, a locally-sourced restaurant, bar and beer garden - located minutes from the beach, and on 3 acres of lush, lakeside woodland. Expect a full report tomorrow, but don’t expect me to leave… I have a feeling my Lake Bryn Mawr roots might get the best of me…. rumor has it that Ruschmeyer’s is full of tee-pees, tree-houses and hammocks. I don’t joke about tee-pees… or tree-houses… or hammocks. 

Party. South Pointe.
This Memorial Day Weekend, there’s a new sheriff in town. First Name: South. Last Name: Pointe…. And he’s raising the bar for tunes off of 27. Friday night, South Pointe Nightclub (in the old RdV East space) opens in South Hampton with a weekend full of David Berrie, Funkagenda, Drek Martinez and closing out with Calvin Harris and The Chainsmokers. Some icing on the party-cake? The spot will be equipped with palm trees, cabanas and a St. Tropez vibe… so see you on the flip side. Questions or concerns?
