Too manic for just one Monday, here’s part two of my month in recap
Sublime to the Jersey Shore, and my virtual DJ debut….
Ready, set…. go!
Hop Around. Dishcrawl
In college I missed out the on beer crawls (NYU, not known for their alcohol-induced sports), but when approached with the opportunity to dish crawl, I made time… and room for a resto hoppin’ evening. Dishcrawl is a social dining experience through 4 restaurants in 1 night with a group of equally as-awesome-as-I-am food lovers. One tip - make sure the restos are worth crawling to, otherwise you may end up b-lining it to Billy’s Bakery.
I’m about to @Dishcrawl… Mouth, you can thank me later #restaurantweek

Reminisce. Sublime with Rome.
There’s nothing to say here. I grew up on Sangria, and dialing 439-0116. I thought Ruca was a hot model, and Garden Grove was a destination in Bali. Tragically, my favorite musician of all time, Bradley Nowell, passed in 1996 and my dreams of seeing the world with Sublime by my side were crushed. But last year, a musical collaboration was formed between Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh of Sublime, and singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez. Now I know, it’s not the same, but Rome’s skills can’t be denied, and seeing Sublime live, in any form… priceless.

Relax & Rage. Jersey Shore.
In a summer full of first-times, I figured I’d go all the way…. the Jersey Shore way. One night at the Osprey did in fact include fist-pumping, tequila chugging and fight dodging. But the true tale to tell, is that Point Pleasant is oh-so-pleasant. Tiny towns, vintage shops, ice-cream trucks with metal bells, and bakeries with that just-cooked smell. Step away from the MTV-Vehicle, and see the Shore for yourself.
Ice cream trucks. Undercurrent. Outdoor showers. Brie. Fig spread. Rose wine. Weathered shackles. The Shore. @LiebzMeAlone @pattymayo116

Spin. Turntable.fm Live Bash.
In other news… I am officially a startup freak, and there’s no sexier startup right now than Turntable.fm. Kanye West and Lady Gaga are both officially investors and while my cash flow may be running low, my virtual DJ skills are at an all-time high. So when I was asked to be 1 of the first folk to spin live, at a real live Turntable.fm party, I could not refuse. Not only could I not refuse, but I let my dance-freak-flag fly with original tracks, and a lemur cap. Thanks to New Work City for hosting the awesome bash, and Doctor Klein for telling me about Turntable.fm months ago, even though I didn’t listen.
DJing in the IRL @TurntableFM Dance Party Room. I’ll be taking you around the world, so buckle up #turntablefm http://t.co/k06Ybqf #ttfmirl

#CollectiveClan RT @djtannernyc: @jetsetfarryn absolutely destroying @turntablefm party right now. Amazing.
Drive. Flying Lessons.
There will always be something you want to taste, or test out, or try. And in my case, the list is endless. This year, I drove race-cars and stood on stage at Coachella; I tasted bone-marrow and skied my first slope. But flying, flying a plane, was never something I thought possible. I’ll be straight with you: driving out to Farmingdale on a beautiful summers day, taking the reigns in a one-engine Cessna and flying over Jones Beach, was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. But accomplishing that feat, and going for it, was by far the best part of my day.

You live once. So go out and live it. Happy August.
