Top 5 Thursday: Party in Palm Springs

#

This year, we’re going to try things differently. The (evidently soggy) grounds at Indio get my undivided attention, but with questionable weather, social-space snagging brands, and an influx of folks flocking to the fest, there’s no doubt that a bunch of bashes are worth the crashes.

Here’s where to party in Palm Springs…

Neon Carnival.

Neon Carnival was created by Bolthouse Productions in 2010 and continues annually at the Aviation Airport during music’s biggest festival weekend in Coachella Valley. For two years and counting, it has become a playground for its invited guests consisting of celebrities, music VIPs, and concert goers. Recreate the scene from Fear. Yeah I said it.

Burton Bash.

Busy P and a BBQ sound brill, but Burton Girls, sound even better. Mingle with the Madame’s at Burtons backyard bash. And no, this is not just because I’m a Burton Girl… It’s because of Nina Dobrev.

The Saguaro Desert Weekend
.
From A-Trak to Brodinski, The Saguaro has a weekend lineup to fill the festival hungry LA crowd, who may or may not actually make their way to Indio.

Lacoste LIVE.

Photobooths, Elijah Wood, more Busy P and some mysteries, Lacoste will serve up 6 hours of wholesome fun in the sun.

MUSE & The Art of Esylum.

Join Wildfox, CIROC and Muse for an all out sensory experience. Think light installations, themed lounge areas, a dance floor with surprise guest DJ’s, Geodesic domes, and art installations done by fine artists Anthony James and Kevin Llewelyn, this event will BLOW YOUR MIND.

Top 5 Thursday: Party Pads

!

Here at Jetsetter, we work round-the-clock to bring you hotels and trips that unlock classic and under-the-radar destinations around the world, and we hope you’ll forgive us if we take a moment to brag about a few milestones. In the last 365 days, we’ve debuted Jetsetter 24/7, our black book of hotels available year-round; Personal Travel Planning, and the brand-spanking-new Jetsetter Homes. To toast another landmark year, here are some hand-picked hotels fit for a party. It’s our party, we can stay if we want too… Kampaii!

Turkey. Barbaros Bay - Kempinski Hotel.

Thirty minutes from Bodrum, Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay is a sprawling spa resort in a postcard-perfect setting. Views of the Aegean take center stage, whether through floor-to-ceiling windows in rooms and suites, in some of the six on-site restaurants or from the enormous infinity pool — one of the largest in Turkey. The private beach and 60,000-square-foot Six Senses Spa (with a traditional Turkish hammam) make this destination for sun-worship and spa time, but the city action and historic sights in Bodrum are just a short drive away.

oundup of my favorite things this week….
A party for summers sake, the final lift-off and a Peruvian hideout
….follow it, don’t judge it

Party. Jetset Farryn & Friends.
You heard me rattle and rave about CO-OP Food & Drink, the newly opened modern American brasserie & sushi bar at the Hotel on Rivington…. now they’re kicking off a series of summer’s eve events and yours truly will be taking part in the festivities. Join me, Grungy Gentleman, The Velveteen and Austyntatious for some food, drinks and serious flirting. Tuesday July 12th.

Hotel. Titilaka Lodge.
On a small, remote peninsula on the shores of the earth’s highest navigable lake, Hotel Titilaka brings the sophisticated boutique hotel experience to one of the world’s most physically and culturally stunning places. The 18-suite retreat immerses you in the cuisine, landscape, mystery and brilliance of the ancient Andes, and includes all meals, plus a choice of local excursions from mountain biking and bird watching to rowing and sightseeing.

Lift-Off. Goodbye Nasa.

The Atlantis blazed a path into history today as it rocketed off the launch pad for a final time, marking the last-ever liftoff of the 30-year-old American space shuttle program. The storied spacecraft is carrying a crew of four US astronauts toward the International Space Station on a 12-day mission to re-stock the orbiting lab. The mission marks the end of an era in human spaceflight, leaving the United States with no spacecraft capable of taking astronauts to orbit and leaving Russia’s three-seat Soyuz capsule as the sole taxi to the ISS (via nationalpost)

It’s a tough life, but someone has to ring in the New Year with Jay-Z and Coldplay… So Jetsetter and the brand-new Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas (yes, from those trippy commercials) are hooking you up with one sexy New Year’s Eve package: Hova and Coldplay in concert, a preview of the new Marquee nightclub, dinner for two, a celebrity fitness workout and more. You’ll be staying three nights in a Terrace Studio at the Cosmopolitan, where your private outdoor space will prove a lot warmer than cozying up to a stranger at midnight in Times Square. Did I mention that Florence & The Machine will be there too? Just in case the Chris Martin or Jay-Z don’t do it for you.

Spend New Years Eve with Jetsetter.com… I promise, we’re worth it.

5 Ways to Catch the Beat.

!

So it’s pretty clear I like music, and heading out to concerts and events in NYC is my little way of escaping when I can’t actually escape. International DJ’s and musicians bring some flavor to the everyday, and @Pacha NYC packs in all the action.

Last weekend, renowned DJ @Bob Sinclar brought Jamaican beats to a massive and curious crowd. For the last two years, the French disco maven was holed up in Kingston, Jamaica with Sly & Robbie’s legendary crew, re-imagining all his biggest hits in a reggae style. And on Friday, Pacha hosted Tim Bergling aka @Avicii aka 1 of 3 of Swedish House Mafia whose broad sonic palette has given me a sweet tooth for Swedes.

So if you can’t travel to the city, let the city travel to you…. In honor of Pacha’s Five-Year Anniversary, here’s a month of transporting tunes, so gear up!

See all the action with the amazing video by SPREADhouse

France: David Guetta
Friday, December 3.
Grammy Award-winning sensation David Guetta is coming back to the booth from which he first rocked New York. In just four years, Guetta has gone from Ibiza’s favorite son to every pop star’s go-to producer and an international star in his own right, gracing the cover of Billboard magazine.

Forget the day, here’s what to do with 12 Hours in Cartagena. Travel Tuesday style.

Historically, Colombia’s had a love affair with partying hard, but the balmy climate, spectacular sunsets and — of course — salsa music, draw a chill crowd. The sexiness of Cartagena is contagious; it’s got the old-world charm of Havana and the sophistication of Buenos Aires wrapped inside a sultry colonial city. Dine at the fashionable Tcherassi Hotel, sip aguardiente at the classic Café del Mar (also found in Ibiza) or dance to live music at La Habana. So live like a local… after night falls.

Eat.
Restaurante La Vitrola is the city’s celebrated hot spot where visitors and natives enjoy live music and delicious dishes of impossibly fresh seafood. After your meal, hang around and wait for patrons to push aside their tables and make room for an impromptu dance floor, made possible by upbeat tunes from the six-piece Cuban band by the door. Note for foodies: don’t miss the shrimp and ropa vieja or the shredded flank steak in tomato sauce.

Lounge.
Start off at Cafe del Mar (its sister club is in Ibiza). Built into the city’s fortress walls, it’s the perfect spot to sip a cocktail and admire 360-degree views of the ocean and the city.

Move.
Warm up with some serious salsa dancing and a side of aguardiente (a local alcoholic beverage) at Tu Candela. Don’t worry about an address – just tell the driver to drop you off on plaza de los coches (you know, the place where the clocktower is.)

Dance.
Hop in a cab and head to Café Havana, a tiny club outside the city center that’s staffed by a small band and frequented by locals.

Sip.
For a nightcap, stop at El Coro bar (The Choir), housed in a 17th-century monastery in the Hotel Sofitel Santa Clara. Take a good look at your fellow bar-goers — dignitaries often stay here, and the chic place attracts plenty of high-profile visitors.

Sleep (eventually).
The Tcherassi Hotel and Spa is the culmination of a vision from designer Silvia Tcherassi. One of South America’s most influential fashionistas, Tcherassi long wanted to bring her unique sense of style to the hospitality industry. The result: a converted four-story colonial mansion on a vibrant Old City street. It’s become Cartagena’s hipster haven, but it’s also got some of the best luxury offerings in Colombia’s new must-see city.

Can’t party in Colombia? Check out our guides to Ibiza and Miami and follow me on twitter for your chance to win $250 Jetsetter credit towards your dream getaway.

Ibiza Gran. Baleric Islands.

There’s nowhere better to be in the summer than Ibiza. The Balearic Island is known for its stone-studded beaches and celeb-studded scene. Located a ferry hop from Barcelona, Ibiza’s all-star DJ lineup hits its zenith in August. Hear the world’s best DJ’s spin in their natural habitat as 10,000 people bounce to the beat at Amensia or Pacha, two of my favorite clubs in the world. You haven’t danced till’ you’ve danced in Ibiza and we’ve partnered with White Ibiza to give you the info you need to get down and dirty. Need a reservation or a tip, @White Ibiza and resident blogger Miss W have got you covered.

Tcherassi Hotel. Cartagena, Colombia.

I love the sexiness of Cartagena; it’s got the old-world charm of Havana and the sophistication of Buenos Aires. You go to Cartagena for the balmy climate, spectacular sunsets and of course, salsa music. And, the sultry colonial city in Colombia is only a 2 ½ hour flight from Miami.
