Top 5 Thursday: Party in Palm Springs

#

This year, we’re going to try things differently. The (evidently soggy) grounds at Indio get my undivided attention, but with questionable weather, social-space snagging brands, and an influx of folks flocking to the fest, there’s no doubt that a bunch of bashes are worth the crashes.

Here’s where to party in Palm Springs…

Neon Carnival.

Neon Carnival was created by Bolthouse Productions in 2010 and continues annually at the Aviation Airport during music’s biggest festival weekend in Coachella Valley. For two years and counting, it has become a playground for its invited guests consisting of celebrities, music VIPs, and concert goers. Recreate the scene from Fear. Yeah I said it.

Burton Bash.

Busy P and a BBQ sound brill, but Burton Girls, sound even better. Mingle with the Madame’s at Burtons backyard bash. And no, this is not just because I’m a Burton Girl… It’s because of Nina Dobrev.

The Saguaro Desert Weekend
.
From A-Trak to Brodinski, The Saguaro has a weekend lineup to fill the festival hungry LA crowd, who may or may not actually make their way to Indio.

Lacoste LIVE.

Photobooths, Elijah Wood, more Busy P and some mysteries, Lacoste will serve up 6 hours of wholesome fun in the sun.

MUSE & The Art of Esylum.

Join Wildfox, CIROC and Muse for an all out sensory experience. Think light installations, themed lounge areas, a dance floor with surprise guest DJ’s, Geodesic domes, and art installations done by fine artists Anthony James and Kevin Llewelyn, this event will BLOW YOUR MIND.

Travel TuesdayRiviera Resort & Spa, Palm Springs

This elite Hollywood hangout set the tone for Palm Springs’ hotel scene in the 1960s. After emerging from a two-year, $70-million renovation, the Riviera Resort & Spa has reclaimed its spot as one of the area’s hottest stays. Sinatra and the Rat Pack used to party here. Now, guests get a taste of that history, along with the resort’s Miami-style poolside scene, enormous spa and vintage décor.

Follow Friday

Round-up of my favorite things this week…. follow it, don’t judge it.

Website. Cities, People, Perspectives.

Leave it to Leica, purveyors of sheer awesomeness, to launch their own micro-site and social media platform that combines the function of Google Maps (which we all know I’m a sucker for) with the power of photography. Leica invited authors from around the world to share their travels with us, one picture at a time.

Musicians. @BornRuffians

Per the suggestion of Todd Lewin, music blogger extraordinaire, I took a chance on Born Ruffians - a Canadian indie rock bank who has performed with the likes of Temper Trap, Vampire Weekend and Girl Talk.

At first, I didn’t get the hype - but then I listened again, and again, and again. I dare you to not get addicted to “I’m a Little Garcon.” At least hold out until the clapping part starts.

Hotel. Parker Palm Springs, California

Mod indoor fire pits, faux-lamb chairs and an assembly of Eames-inspired patio furniture create the splashy backdrop for Hollywood’s cosmetically enhanced weekend set. The Parker Palm Springs welcomes guests to the deserts of Southern California to experience the frivolous playboy lifestyle. With acres of frolicsome Jonathan Adler-designed spaces featuring sceney, celeb-studded pools, communal fire pits and Jacuzzis, the Parker is the place to see and be seen. Check it out on Jetsetter - Sunday April 18, 3 P.M.
