Tidbit: Yayoi Kusama

Kids these days…

This December, in a surprisingly simple yet ridiculously amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Ar, artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color. How great is this? Given the opportunity my son could probably cover the entire piano alone in about fifteen minutes. The installation, entitled The Obliteration Room, is part of Kusama’s Look Now, See Forever exhibition that runs through March 12. (via stuart addelseeheybubbles and morgans-hotels)

Music. SPIN’s 25 Must-Hear Acts at Coachella
Let’s be honest. I don’t know much past that Sahara Tent… This year’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival — taking place April 15-17 in Indio, CA — boasts one of its most talented lineups yet. SPIN’s editors have picked 25 must-hear acts from the three-day bill, including Kanye West (ehhh), blues rock juggernauts the Black Keys, Grammy darlings Arcade Fire, dance-pop diva Robyn, and Odd Future, the one hip-hop act you need to discover in 2011.

Awards. Vote for Jetsetter for a Webby Award.
In true nerd form, let me tell you a bit about The Webbys. The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. It was established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy, and are presented by a team of visionaries and creative celebrities, from Branson to Beck. The Webby Awards presents two honors in every category — The Webby Award and The People’s Voice Award — in each of its four entry types, and guess who is up for an award in Travel.…. you guessed it. So put on your support caps and get-a-votin’

Experience.
Kids Go To Camp.
Ok, maybe you don’t know this about me, but I am a die-hard, balls to the wall camper. 8 years strong, I took those summers down one by one.
There’s nothing quite like the memories made at summer camp, a place where bunk beds and s’mores, ghost stories and mosquitoes are just a few parts of a much bigger whole. These three Pennsylvania outfits — Pine Forest Camp, Lake Owego Camp and Camp Timber Tops — receive accreditation and high rankings from the American Camp Association every year. So pack your bags, and then send the kiddies on their way….
Camp kicks off tomorrow on
Jetsetter! (yeahhh that’s me)
