Wear it Wednesday.

$ I love nothing more than dressing the part… especially when the part involves a little bit of patriotism. Whether you’re caped at the Cape or striped for a sail, this Fourth is all about a combination of color. Suit up with bold patterns, Boat-appropropriate staples and statement accessories that can help you get from beach to bonfire without a breather. Succumb to the after dark scene of Miami Beach, retreat to California for a food- and wine-focused long weekend or take a dip in a private plunge pool looking out at the turquoise waters of Antigua. No matter where you are, you better be firework ready. So pack it up, July 4th style. Sometimes it’s not just where you go, but what you wear when you get there…

Top 5 Thursday: Food for the Fourth

#

Fireworks. Gingham. Family. Bonfires. Streamers. Live Bands. Sand. All-American Towns. Friends. Parades. Carnivals. Picnics. Concerts. Independence. Baseball. Food… Food. Food. Food. Food. Coma.
Here’s five reasons to love America.

1. Cheeseburger. The Spotted Pig, NYC

The concept of “American Food” almost ubiquitously conjures the image of a cheeseburger and French Fries. The classic cheeseburger has undergone many a makeover in recent history, from constant fast-food chain to foie-gras infused haute cuisine. The Spotted Pig in the West Village strikes the perfect burger balance, elevating this beloved staple without taking away from the integrity of this American classic. The right size to be picked up and eaten with ones hands (no fork and knife burgers for me), this iteration features a beef patty bursting with the flavor of pure steak, topped with zippy Roquefort cheese with just the right stinky bite. The flavorful combination sits comfortably on a brioche bun.  Even as an avid ketchup connoisseur, that glass bottle remained firmly on the table;  this burger renders the condiment grossly unnecessary. The long wait is the only pitfall at the Spotted Pig, but if you drop the name @mikey_z you might get some center table, main dining room action.
