Ask Away.

?

It must be the fact that Coachella is over (what, Weekend 2 who?) or that summer is fast approaching, but this week, my inbox is supa full of requests for itineraries. From Thailand to Taipei, Ibiza to Iceland, there’s too many questions in the kitchen. So, for the next few weeks, I’m going to pick and publish the plans for all of you to see. So get yo’ requests ready. Where do you want to go this summer?

Wear it Wednesday: Greece

$

I love nothing more than dressing the part, but sometimes I don’t know the part until I play it. Climb the Acropolis in chiffon, sip Rose at Nammos Beach in Missoni and wink the night away at Cavo Paradiso in platforms. It’s apres-beach at it’s best, and chicest. So pack it up, Greek Island style. Sometimes it’s not just where you go, but what you wear when you get there…

Travel Tuesday: Santorini-Me

Santorini has its share of super-romantic hotels, classic inns and cozy hideaways, but travelers with more modernist leanings have been short on choices. In the quiet village of Pyrgos, Voreina Gallery Suites is changing all that. A nine-suite property just 10 minutes from Thira, Santorini’s main town, it has spacious guestrooms, a clean, minimal style and a rotating collection of art from young artists. With its classic Santorini backdrop, this petite hotel can feel like one big art installation. Here’s my plan of action….

Stay Local. Thira and Oia may be the island’s most famous towns, but the village of Pyrgos is still worth a visit to see the stunning medieval architecture, including 10th-century churches and fortress ruins.

Drink Greek. Voreina is ideally situated to visit some of Santorini’s best wineries. Take a tour of the different grape growing operations, and sample some of the local products.

Healing Waters. Just because the hotel doesn’t have a spa doesn’t mean you can’t sample Greece’s own unique brand of wellness. Hop on a ferry to the nearby volcanic island of Nea Kameni, where you can bathe in hot sulfur springs.

Lounge Around. Perivolos Beach may not have the white sand (Santorini’s beaches are black, brown and red), but it more than makes up for it with sweeping Aegean views.

Travel Tuesday: Mansion Sophia

It takes a lot for me to give up modern architecture and techy-tools…. but tucked away among whitewashed pedestrian lanes in one of Santorini’s prettiest villages, Mansion Sophia offers a stylish escape from the island’s crowds. It may not have those famous caldera views, but this lovingly refurbished home offers a blissfully quiet pebbled courtyard with a plunge pool and daybeds, vaulted interiors, monastic-chic bedrooms and a kitchenette and dining terrace. It feels like a privileged escape, and after days spent with the island crowds, you’ll look forward to nightly retreats here.

Travel Tuesday: Margi Hotel, Athens.

This boutique seaside resort on the Vouliagmeni Peninsula, on Athens’s southern outskirts, has a tasteful, arty vibe that sets it apart from many of the city’s hotels. From each of the 89 rooms and balconies overlooking the pine forests and beaches of the Athenian Riviera, you’ll feel as though you’re a million miles away from the hectic city, but close enough to visit the historical sites and monuments. I’m currently trying to channel the candlelit poolside lounge with in my tiny NYC apartment… yeahhh, it’s not working out too well.

Hotel. Pietra e Mare.

Far from Mykonos’s crowds, this tranquil couples-only resort peers over one of the best beaches on the isle. European honeymooners flock to its heart-fluttering panoramas, where space and time seem to stop. Bathed in cool Aegean blues and whites on the inside and out, the hotel may be almost 20 years old, but you’d never know it from its meticulously modern vibe.

Hotel. Zannos Melathron.

With a dreamy 360-degree view of the village of Pyrgos and enough sex appeal to make a James Bond flick, the Zannos Melathron fulfills the Greek island fantasy. Half an hour from Santorini’s traditional tourist spots, this Relais & Chateaux property is a swank, secluded escape for honeymooners and the occasional movie star. Privacy is paramount, and guests are pampered from the moment they enter the property’s meticulously restored 18th- and 19th-century Mediterranean manor houses.

Hotel. The Petra, Greece.

The isle of Patmos is all sunshine, sparkling seas and delicious local specialties. No wonder Forbes recently named it the most idyllic place to live in Europe. Just five minutes from the famed monastery of Saint John is The Petra, a graceful boutique hotel perched above the crystalline waters of Grikos Bay. With lavish breakfasts, sumptuous bedding and hydro-massage tubs in the suites, a stay at the property is anything but monastic.

Check it out on Jetsetter - Saturday April 24, Noon.
