Travel Tuesday: Santorini-Me

Santorini has its share of super-romantic hotels, classic inns and cozy hideaways, but travelers with more modernist leanings have been short on choices. In the quiet village of Pyrgos, Voreina Gallery Suites is changing all that. A nine-suite property just 10 minutes from Thira, Santorini’s main town, it has spacious guestrooms, a clean, minimal style and a rotating collection of art from young artists. With its classic Santorini backdrop, this petite hotel can feel like one big art installation. Here’s my plan of action….

Stay Local. Thira and Oia may be the island’s most famous towns, but the village of Pyrgos is still worth a visit to see the stunning medieval architecture, including 10th-century churches and fortress ruins.

Drink Greek. Voreina is ideally situated to visit some of Santorini’s best wineries. Take a tour of the different grape growing operations, and sample some of the local products.

Healing Waters. Just because the hotel doesn’t have a spa doesn’t mean you can’t sample Greece’s own unique brand of wellness. Hop on a ferry to the nearby volcanic island of Nea Kameni, where you can bathe in hot sulfur springs.

Lounge Around. Perivolos Beach may not have the white sand (Santorini’s beaches are black, brown and red), but it more than makes up for it with sweeping Aegean views.

The only thing that could make this video better… is if it were me, in Europe, for six weeks. Kudos.

Top 10 Thursday: Tres Chic Pari’

#

We’re giving away an adventure for two to Paris, including airfare, four nights at the Hotel Francois 1er, and an exclusive shopping experience (thanks to Refinery29). But there’s a lot to do and see, so jot down my Top 10 Pari’…

Walk. Rue Mouffetard. Explore nearby Rue Mouffetard, a street that’s all about food and is home to one of Paris’s hottest street markets.

Explore. Le Marais. Stroll like it’s Soho with stops in some of Paris’s hottest shops like Zadig & Voltaire, Vanessa Bruno and Yukiko. Then, grab a seat at Le Philosophes, a classic Parisian terrace smack in the middle of the Marais action. Or, opt for falafel. Yes, Paris has the best falafel, no contest so head to L’As du Falafel at 34 Rue des Rosiers. Savor one en route to the Picasso Museum, perhaps.

Look. Kate Moss Exhibit. Kate Moss (or her photographs) are on display at La Galerie de l’Instant in Paris. Friday through September 14th, stare at the supermodel’s greatest moments in an exhibition dedicated to her life’s work.

Dish. La Société. Secure a reservation at La Société, an art-sprinkled, ultra-chic restaurant designed by Christian Liaigre and tucked away in a 19th-century building on Place Saint-Germain.

Dance. Le Montana. Thanks to a revamp by Olivier Zahm (Purple Diary) and Le Baron’s Andre, you’ll find retro tunes, a fashionable crowd and plenty of cocktails at Le Montana.

Travel Tuesday: Italy

I’m well schooled in the School of Asia, but when it comes to Italy, I’m barely making the grade. Yes, I’ve traveled through Florence, Rome and Capri (to name a few) but this summer, I plan on furthering my education with a course on the Coasts.

From cruises through Venice to the amazing Amalfi, check out Italy on JetsetterIt’s not joke… we’d be silly to mess with this mafioso.

Travel Tuesday: Mandala Hotel, Berlin.

A stylish addition to the city, the Mandala is a design hotel that puts guests in the heart of Potsdamer Platz. For all its decadent room amenities and high-design aesthetics, you’d be forgiven for thinking the Mandala was part of a large chain. But this privately owned address within walking distance of the Brandenburg Gate embodies everything that’s cutting-edge about Europe’s current capital of cool.

Get with it at the Mandala Berlin on Jetsetter!

Manic Monday - Version 1.0

!

Ready. Steady. Spain. Miles of sunflowers, not so easy Easy Jet, off the path islands, a hefty amount of ham (don’t tell my rabbi) and a whole lot of house. Weekend recap from start to finish…go!

Stay. Marques de Riscal.
Friday. 10 PM.

As I arrive at Marques des Riscal hotel, the quiet of night descends upon Elciego, a small town in the Rioja region. But even under the wash of night, it’s clear that this isn’t your average hotel. Designed by renowned architect Frank O. Gehry, Marques des Riscal is a sensory experience. The architecture brags, the Baccarat stemware chimes, the avant-garde culinary creations stews…  It’s a clash of titans here, so keep your eyes, ears and taste buds peeled… and some serious sipping.

Pause.

!

As I flew back from Ibiza to New York on Sunday, the beloved area of Benirras Beach was devastated by forest fires, which have continued to burn for the past three days, across 800 acres of land.

Up to 1500 people have been evacuated from the area, many taken by volunteers to the port of San Miguel as they left the scene. Pause for a moment for those in need of help and guidance, and for the free-spirited vibe that made Benirras a truly unique place. For more information check out White Escapes live updates; For volunteer or donation information check out The Ibiza Preservation Fund.

Top 10 Thursday: Ibiza - Part Deux

#

My first post on Jetset Farryn had to be good, so I spoon fed you my Top 5 favorite things to do in one of my favorite places. This time, I’ve teamed up with Miss W from @White Ibiza to give you a killer guide (if I may say so myself) to the crazy isle they call Ibiza.

Hit the High Seas.
Charter a luxury yacht and head for the neighboring island of Formentera, the place to see and be seen at beachside restaurants and cruising around the coast.

Frock Up in Style.
Flex the plastic and indulge in some retail therapy, Ibiza-style. Ibiza’s very own designer label, Kurru Kurru, makes bespoke disco dresses, spangly bikinis and full-blown couture creations perfect for a week on the white isle.

Dine Alfresco.
There’s no better atmosphere than the magical garden restaurant space at Aura for dining on modern tapas under the stars, with the smell of thousands of jasmine blossoms permeating the air, seven nights a week.

Take a Chill Pill.
The Ibiza Gran’s Open Spa is among the island’s best relaxation havens, boasting hydrotherapy and a sports pool, sauna and hammam, plus the world’s finest therapists on hand to soothe the aches and pains caused by a day by the pool.
