Tidbit: EDC Heads to NYC

!

The Electric Daisy Carnival, the dance music festival which drew over 250,000 attendees to its three-day Las Vegas event last year, will hit New York on May 19-20, 2012, at a soon-to-be-announced location.

Electric Daisy Carnival New York will be presented via a partnership between EDC organizer Insomniac Events, and Pacha New York, the only U.S. branch of the storied Ibizan nightlife brand.

“I’m really excited to be working with Pacha to bring our touring experience of Electric Daisy Carnival to New York,” Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, told Billboard exclusively. “The entire Insomniac staff is looking forward to this upcoming EDC weekend on the East Coast.”

Venue and lineup details for EDCNY will be announced soon. Electric Daisy Carnival is also scheduled to hit Las Vegas on June 8-10. More info

The Cosmic Opera Low-Down.

?

Sometimes the stars align…
For some mystic-hungry Manhattanites, the sky is bright with the light of the much anticipated, uber-mysterious Cosmic Opera slated to steal the show at Hammerstein Ballroom this winter. Here’s what we know...

Cosmic Opera is an intimate, extrasensory dance event series combining the cast and high-value production of a renaissance or opera spectacle with an over-the-top dance music concert… If Cirque du Soleil and The Box had a baby at Sensation White…

The Cosmic Opera series will open in New York City this winter, once a month, for three months in a row but the plan is to take this bad boy on tour.

It’s no mystery that the man behind the mask is Axwell himself, but what’s unique about Cosmic Opera, is the loaded talent roster that goes far beyond the booth. The production is packed with power players like Peter Witting, pro-surfer/skiier, producer extraordinaire. Guy Smith, Ageha Tokyo and the Box designer, John Finen, oh and a former aerospace engineer.

Today’s presale sold out in record time. For those who think they got 8 tickets, think again… the producers play fair and put a cap on it.

While some hundred tickets were available today, tomorrow’s Ticketmaster sale will be in the thousands (you didn’t hear it from me)

This rave-generation, rules the nation…

R

oundup of my favorite things this week…
From HOUS to a (Sensation White House
Follow it, don’t judge it!

Festival. Sensation White, America 2012.
Because all we need is another festival. But if there’s one to add to the books, it’s the all-white bash from across the pond. Sensation White is the original OG fest, so get your glowsticks ready for Cirque de Soleil ala Ultra. Good thing @Austyntatiouss has been there, we’re gonna need all the prep we can get.

Fashion. HOUS.
HOUS is here to fill a fashion void — edgy styles that appreciate the scene and the people who wear them. As clothes become a part of the person, HOUS is a part of the music scene. The company has partnered with elite DJs like ATB, Bob Sinclair, Erick Morillo, Robbie Rivera, Sander van Doorn, and Sasha to create specially designed T-shirts for their fans. Other established names spotted in HOUS gear include Calvin Harris, Chuckie, Congorock, Dada Life, Darren Emerson, Drek Martinez, DJ Paulette, DJ Reach, EC Twins, Jeremy Carr, Junior Sanchez, Fareoh, Max Vangeli, Rony Seikaly, Sharam (Deep Dish), and Steve Aoki. Scoop it up

Event. DJ’s in The Sky, Nepal.
What’s that you see? The spot for the first ever outdoor musical event in Nepal. Ok, so maybe that’s Everest, but jump over a mountain or two to the district of Rasuwa, next to Tibet and you’re in the right spot. Think of a picturesque plateau, complete with pristine forests and traditional mountain villages.  Then, layer on three full days of comprehensive music across three stages. DJ’s from Nepal, India, Turkey, UAE, Macedonia, Lebanon, Israel, Italy, Russia, Pakistan, USA, and more are flying in, so why shouldn’t you? Tribal vibes, groovy beats and evocative styles, up in the clouds. Chillin’

Q&A: Answer It Alesso.

?

Fresh out the frying pan into the fire, Alesso strolled into Capitale this past Friday like a full-blown rock star. And while his mentor-slash-collaborator Sebastian Ingrosso may in fact be the closest thing to Mick Jagger this side of 1976, Alesso is just barely scratching the idol-surface. He scored an Essential New Tune on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio One show with his debut track during Miami Music Week and secured a second on-air play with his remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World”. Now, he’s the kid-heard-round-the-world with “Calling” and playing to topped-out tents at big festivals like Electric Zoo. This past weekend I chatted with the cutie over club soda, virgin club soda, and here’s what he had to say for himself….

JetsetFarryn: Do you sing in the shower?
Alesso: Yes, ha, sometimes.

JetsetFarryn: What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?
Alesso: My phone, wallet and computer.

JetsetFarryn: If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Alesso: I would turn all of the negative in the world into positive. There’d be no hate, just love.
