From HOUS to a (Sensation White House
Follow it, don’t judge it!

Festival. Sensation White, America 2012.
Because all we need is another festival. But if there’s one to add to the books, it’s the all-white bash from across the pond. Sensation White is the original OG fest, so get your glowsticks ready for Cirque de Soleil ala Ultra. Good thing @Austyntatiouss has been there, we’re gonna need all the prep we can get.

Fashion. HOUS.
HOUS is here to fill a fashion void — edgy styles that appreciate the scene and the people who wear them. As clothes become a part of the person, HOUS is a part of the music scene. The company has partnered with elite DJs like ATB, Bob Sinclair, Erick Morillo, Robbie Rivera, Sander van Doorn, and Sasha to create specially designed T-shirts for their fans. Other established names spotted in HOUS gear include Calvin Harris, Chuckie, Congorock, Dada Life, Darren Emerson, Drek Martinez, DJ Paulette, DJ Reach, EC Twins, Jeremy Carr, Junior Sanchez, Fareoh, Max Vangeli, Rony Seikaly, Sharam (Deep Dish), and Steve Aoki. Scoop it up

Event. DJ’s in The Sky, Nepal.
What’s that you see? The spot for the first ever outdoor musical event in Nepal. Ok, so maybe that’s Everest, but jump over a mountain or two to the district of Rasuwa, next to Tibet and you’re in the right spot. Think of a picturesque plateau, complete with pristine forests and traditional mountain villages.  Then, layer on three full days of comprehensive music across three stages. DJ’s from Nepal, India, Turkey, UAE, Macedonia, Lebanon, Israel, Italy, Russia, Pakistan, USA, and more are flying in, so why shouldn’t you? Tribal vibes, groovy beats and evocative styles, up in the clouds. Chillin’

Q&A: Answer It Alesso.

?

Fresh out the frying pan into the fire, Alesso strolled into Capitale this past Friday like a full-blown rock star. And while his mentor-slash-collaborator Sebastian Ingrosso may in fact be the closest thing to Mick Jagger this side of 1976, Alesso is just barely scratching the idol-surface. He scored an Essential New Tune on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio One show with his debut track during Miami Music Week and secured a second on-air play with his remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World”. Now, he’s the kid-heard-round-the-world with “Calling” and playing to topped-out tents at big festivals like Electric Zoo. This past weekend I chatted with the cutie over club soda, virgin club soda, and here’s what he had to say for himself….

JetsetFarryn: Do you sing in the shower?
Alesso: Yes, ha, sometimes.

JetsetFarryn: What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?
Alesso: My phone, wallet and computer.

JetsetFarryn: If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Alesso: I would turn all of the negative in the world into positive. There’d be no hate, just love.

Follow Friday: Me. You & DJ Wooooo [Yes, the worlds #1 virtual DJ]

?

DJ Woooo is a he. He is located in the Northeast, and splits his time between NYC and a rural town in New England. He works for startups in NYC developing mobile apps. He is the godfather of Turntable.fm aka the worlds #1 virtual DJ. He has over 1000 fans. He’s not into twitter, or soundcloud, although @NoPattern (the designer of Kaskade’s Dynasty album) supplied him with a killer avatar. He is not a music snob - he hopes to host Steve Aoki in his infamous turntable room and he loves a good Kid Cudi track. He was supposed to spend today on a boat, but opted to answer my questions instead. He is a gentlemen, both in and out of the booth and maybe I have a chat-room crush. And his name is Ethan. And he might be sitting next to me….. here’s my day with the Woooo (special thanks to all of those avatars who partook in the interview)

My weekend recap… from start to finish, go!
Tasting menus to Tequila to Textiles to TV…

Try On. Textile Jeans, E & J.
Wednesday. 9 pm

Tequila and textiles? Count me in. I joined my good friends from Elizabeth and James to launch their new denim line this week at Tacombi. The jeans pull from a Penny Lane place with a 70’s vibe and patchwork pockets. I haven’t taken them off, and I haven’t gotten them hemmed yet. Maybe that’s why I feel down the stairs at Tammany Hall this weekend. Lesson learned: Get your jeans, and hem them too.

Stuff Face. Torissi.

Thursday. 9 pm.

I love me a good tasting menu. Honestly, I do. But to agree to one on a date? Well that’s daring even for me. Thankfully Torissi and I got along swimmingly; we smiled over Sweetbreads, laughed over Island Duck and swooned over Skate. There’s something to be said for a great guy (um, I mean resto) who doesn’t brag or get over-dressed, and leaves it up to substance. A tasty-treat sans fuss? Now that’s my kinda man. Torissi, I’ll accept a second date. Just be sure to bring the wine-pairing.

Dance. The @Knockz at Tammany Hall.

Thursday. 11 pm.

Over 1,000 people showed for the first Popshop at Tammany Hall earlier this month. And there are a few reasons why. First, the killer location in an annex on Orchard Street. Second, the peeps behind Crash Mansion suited up the place with a large stage (notably), a Prohibition-style basement and an upstairs balcony with its own bar. Third, the lineup which included the Knockz this past Thursday. Give me a boy on a mic and drum-pad and I am sold. This sound is special, so catch them this week at the Studio at Webster Hall. I’ll be the girly groupie in the front. Thanks to the Pancake Man for a great plan.

Floored - literally and figuratively - by the @Knockz. Wow.#nowplaying at @TammanyHall 12:10 AM Feb 4th

Music. @Gregori Klosman.
Born in Paris, Gregori Klosman is rising in the House music scene. Even if you don’t recognize the name, you’ve probably heard of a little track called “F**king Down” with Tristan Graner… ring a bell? With influencers from Daft Punk to French Touch, Klosman is summouning sorte of sorts,  from disco to jazz, funk to electro. The first time I heard “Bombata” I smiled from ear-to-ear, on repeat. And he’s cute to boot. If only he fit in my iPod.

“Bombata”

“F**king Down”

Hotel. @Hyatt Regency Oubaai.
Part of an upscale 316-acre residential development overlooking the sparkling Indian Ocean, the posh 100-room Hyatt Regency Oubaai Golf Resort & Spa is barely a year old and already a big success. The location near revered surfer beach Herolds Bay is stunning; it’s where mountains tumble into the sea near a long stretch of golden sand. Add a championship golf course, and this five-star resort is turning the sleepy area into a must stay.

Fall in love with the view at the Hyatt Regency Oubaai on Jetsetter.com!

Art. Ralph Lauren Garage.
A 1958 Ferrari Testa Rossa from the 60’s; a 1938 Alfa Romeo Mille Miglia Spyder; a 1929 Bentley 4¼4 Litre Blower. Pinch Me. That’s what Tobb Eberle from Vanity Fair must have been thinking as he photographed the museum-like motor shrine of Ralph Lauren. Breathtaking, and as sexy as the man himself. No, sexier.

5 Ways to Catch the Beat.

!

So it’s pretty clear I like music, and heading out to concerts and events in NYC is my little way of escaping when I can’t actually escape. International DJ’s and musicians bring some flavor to the everyday, and @Pacha NYC packs in all the action.

Last weekend, renowned DJ @Bob Sinclar brought Jamaican beats to a massive and curious crowd. For the last two years, the French disco maven was holed up in Kingston, Jamaica with Sly & Robbie’s legendary crew, re-imagining all his biggest hits in a reggae style. And on Friday, Pacha hosted Tim Bergling aka @Avicii aka 1 of 3 of Swedish House Mafia whose broad sonic palette has given me a sweet tooth for Swedes.

So if you can’t travel to the city, let the city travel to you…. In honor of Pacha’s Five-Year Anniversary, here’s a month of transporting tunes, so gear up!

France: David Guetta
Friday, December 3.
Grammy Award-winning sensation David Guetta is coming back to the booth from which he first rocked New York. In just four years, Guetta has gone from Ibiza’s favorite son to every pop star’s go-to producer and an international star in his own right, gracing the cover of Billboard magazine.

Sit Down. Armin Van Buuren

!

Armin Van Buuren, Dutch trance producer and the world’s #1 DJ, is taking it stateside on September 5th as the headliner for @ElectricZoo, New York’s premier electronic music festival.

He won’t just be stopping by. After months of hard work and creativity, Armin will be celebrating the release of his fourth album, Mirage, set to drop on September 14th. Inspired and influenced by many different types of music, Mirage is a more mature and diverse AVB creation than ever before.

“Work started two years ago when I actually built a completely new studio for this project,” Van Buuren said. “Many new techniques were used and most of all I had so much fun creating this with the many people that are involved. It was a journey, an epic one!

The album is filled with musical fusions and surprising interpretations, from the orchestral masterpiece of title track “Mirage”, to the deep trance track “I Don’t Own You” and to the eerie “Take A Moment” and feel-good “Drowning”.

The euphoric single “Not Giving Up on Love” is currently scorching across the summer festival terrain. Van Buuren collaborated with singer/songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor and lyrical duo The Nervo sisters to produce the sweet, synth track.
