Travel Tuesday

Travel Tuesday: Endemico. Mexico.
Also known as the hotel version of Master P’s classic “Make Em Say Uhh”
Seriously, no seriously, have staggered boxes ever been so beautiful? On a secluded hill in the wine-growing region of Valle de Guadalupe, these luxury cabins bring guests into direct contact with nature. Blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, the mountain views and wine-growing soils are the perfect place to post up. It’s as isolated as owners Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha planned it to be. Situated just one and a half hours from San Diego, California… did you hear that? I said get in your car.

Top 5 Thursday: Party in Palm Springs

#

This year, we’re going to try things differently. The (evidently soggy) grounds at Indio get my undivided attention, but with questionable weather, social-space snagging brands, and an influx of folks flocking to the fest, there’s no doubt that a bunch of bashes are worth the crashes.

Here’s where to party in Palm Springs…

Neon Carnival.

Neon Carnival was created by Bolthouse Productions in 2010 and continues annually at the Aviation Airport during music’s biggest festival weekend in Coachella Valley. For two years and counting, it has become a playground for its invited guests consisting of celebrities, music VIPs, and concert goers. Recreate the scene from Fear. Yeah I said it.

Burton Bash.

Busy P and a BBQ sound brill, but Burton Girls, sound even better. Mingle with the Madame’s at Burtons backyard bash. And no, this is not just because I’m a Burton Girl… It’s because of Nina Dobrev.

The Saguaro Desert Weekend
.
From A-Trak to Brodinski, The Saguaro has a weekend lineup to fill the festival hungry LA crowd, who may or may not actually make their way to Indio.

Lacoste LIVE.

Photobooths, Elijah Wood, more Busy P and some mysteries, Lacoste will serve up 6 hours of wholesome fun in the sun.

MUSE & The Art of Esylum.

Join Wildfox, CIROC and Muse for an all out sensory experience. Think light installations, themed lounge areas, a dance floor with surprise guest DJ’s, Geodesic domes, and art installations done by fine artists Anthony James and Kevin Llewelyn, this event will BLOW YOUR MIND.

Travel Tuesday: Los Angeles Villa
You may not be a real-life star, but while you’re staying at L.A. Villa, you’ll definitely feel like an A-lister. It’s not uncommon to get stuck behind a “Star Tours” van as you wind your way up to this 4,000-square-foot manse in the heart of Beverly Hills; after all, this is prime celebrity real estate (Sylvester Stallone and David and Victoria Beckham live nearby). Pimp out on Jetsetter.com

Top 5 Thursday: Come On Irene

#

I’m a Hurricane-Andrew-Survivor, but that don’t mean I’m down for Irene. So let’s cut to the category-4 chase… this lady in our midst offers the perfect excuse to pack up, and head outta’ Dodge. My picks for clearing out before the ‘cane…

Las Vegas. Cosmopolitan.
It’s not easy to make a city like Las Vegas sit up and take notice, but the new Cosmopolitan did just that. Consisting of two skyscrapers, large rooms with private terraces, 13 restaurants and 300,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space, this hotel came to make a statement. With special events all summer long at the loungelike pool areas and a nightclub run by the famous Tao Group, the hotel delivers a true Vegas stay in style.

The Auberge Group’s Calistoga Ranch consists of 48 private freestanding lodges with views of the surrounding 157 acres, which are filled with tall oak trees and burbling streams. The property has all the makings of a romantic hideaway. There’s a world-class spa with mineral soaking pools, a restaurant that overlooks Lake Lommel, an outdoor pool and walking trails through the forest. Now all I need, is a partner-in-wine…

Top 5 Thursday: Reasons to Rent a ‘Rod

#

Since 2003, Club Sportiva has offered the Exotic Car Experience, which grants everyone their God-given right to drive an Aston Martin past lustful gazes in California. It’s true: the world’s greatest sports cars (and Bentleys and Aston Martins) are just waiting to be driven through California Wine Country or down the coast. Choose your class of car — including Lamborghinis, Porsches and more — and set off on the weekend drive of a lifetime. Here’s five reasons why you should say yes, and press…. the petal to the metal, duh.

1 Chilling in Carmel Valley
Carmel Valley has some of the most beautiful stretches of road in the United States (and some of the most beautiful residents, naturally). So if you’re embarking on one of the most legendary drives in the world…you should really be driving one of the most impressive cars. Club Sportiva has been making that ambition a reality for drivers since 2003, with an eye toward bringing luxurious autos to a mass audience.

 2 Getting to pretend you’re a celeb in a Cribs-worthy ride.
The power of a serious engine revving is no joking matter. I think it’s safe to say I caught the bug at Skip Barber and am now a full blown car-a-holic. With three classes of cars to choose from, there’s something for everyone —  the Connoisseur Collection, the Elite Collection and the Enthusiast Collection. Details: Porsche 550 Spyder Replica, Lotus Elite, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Ferrari F430 Coupe, to name a few….

Travel Tuesday: Palihouse

If a French brasserie, a Moroccan dancehall from the 1930s, a grand British library and an intentionally ironic hipster bar had a baby, it would be the lobby lounge at Palihouse Holloway in West Hollywood. Yet the decor manages to stay welcoming, with home-away-from-home touches in each of the apartment-style suites. Whether guests hang out in the candlelit courtyard or try their hand at foosball, a stay at Palihouse is anything but ordinary.

Travel Tuesday: Milliken Creek Inn & Spa

Hidden beneath gnarled century-old oaks, Milliken Creek Inn sits on the grassy banks of the Napa River. It was a stagecoach stop in the late 1800s; now it’s a discreetly sexy 12-room inn. With the stately grace only an old house can provide, Milliken finds strength in its restraint: carefully styled, never overdone. And it’s right at the foot of the Silverado Trail, ideal for quick getaways up-valley.

Travel Tuesday: The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, California

An architecturally accurate replica of a California mission, the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn has been around since long before anyone talked about a “California wine country.” Sitting over therapeutic hot springs, the resort was, in its earliest incarnation, a health retreat, welcoming wealthy San Franciscans who came in the 1920s to take the waters under the care of a doctor. Modern-day visitors still take advantage of the hot springs in the Inn’s much lauded spa, but nowadays they can also tour local wineries and indulge in dinner at the inn’s Michelin-starred restaurant.

It’s our $50 Travel Tuesday question! Travel gives us a chance to indulge (today it’s wine and food and Fairmont Sonoma). What’s your favorite guilty pleasure on vacation?
