Let’s be honest - it’s too hot to be cool in New York City today. So instead of complaining about Celsius, take advantage of some fittingly frosty activities to keep the sweats at bay…. or just perspire on purpose. We won’t judge. And if all else fails, find a frozen margarita. Stat.

Pool. Dream Downtown.
The recently opened Dream Downtown has a hot bar and an equally cool pool. Situated between the Meatpacking District and Chelsea, the Dream is the perfect 5 PM plan. Pretend you’re a guest, or request pool access at the Front Desk…. or be sneaky, just don’t say it was my idea.
Pops. People’s Pops.
I come from a land of pops-on-a-hot-day-in-summer, so you can imagine my elation when I stumbled on People’s Pops at the Brooklyn Flea. A one-day experiment of tryin’ a make the world a better pop, turned into a full grown business. Sustainably grown, local fruit and herbs, freshly grated ice. Delish.
Fry. Frying Pan.
Set on a salvaged lightship, The Frying Pan is no secret. It’s also not surprisingly my favorite spot for post-work booze and burgers on the West Side. But I have a weak spot for barnacle encrusted shipwreck motifs., what can I say? Note: On a hot-ass day like today, they’re known to run out of beer. So be prepared.
Beach. Beekmans Beer Garden Beach Club.
Grab a cold Sixpoint Lager, sit back on the beach, play some pool, lounge in a hammock…. that’s really all you need to know. Overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge, Beekmans bring the beach to the Seaport. Don’t miss out on the oyster and a juicy La Frieda burger. Oh, and did I mention they’re hosting George Clinton next Wednesday? Fact.
Skate. Uniqlo Skating Rink at The Highline.
Talk about catching the breeze in yo’ hair…. Friends of the High Line, thank you so much for the brand new High Line Roller-Skating Rink. Opening Thursday, July 28 to Monday, September 26, 2011, the High Line Rink will be one of the only open-air roller-skating venue in Manhattan, and admission will be free for the first 500 people on the first two days of operation thanks to UNIQLO. I’ve always wanted to be a roller girl… no really, I do.

BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW:
Goldeneye. Pierce Brosnan. 1995. Movie turned name of the Jamaica estate where James Bond-creator Ian Fleming lived and penned all 14 novels that would later become films.
This November, GoldenEye will be re-opened by Island Records founder Chris Blackwell as a resort in Oracabessa. The 52-acre estate encompasses 22 units including Beach Cottages, Lagoon Suites, Villas and the original Fleming Villa.
Fun Fact: The tale of how Goldeneye, the estate, got its name has its roots in real espionage, not just the CGI variety. During WWII, Lieutenant Commander Ian Fleming of the Royal Navy, developed the Allied plan Operation Goldeneye to keep a close ‘eye’ on Spain, in case it joined the Axis powers…. Playa’ play on.

!
It’s been a wild month. Between Bonnaroo and July 4th, I’ve barely had a moment to catch my breath. And then, these past few weeks have been all about losing it again with inspiring pop-up tech and the Jersey Shore. Ready, steady… go. It’s Manic Monday, summer-style.
Note: Some restaurants have been withheld in order to wow you with a special Resto Week post… check back Thursday for the juicy details.

Inspire. @CreatorsProject.
Country Hoping. 12 Hours.
You’re probably sick of hearing about it but… Jetsetter partnered again with our friends at Vice Magazine to give away two tickets to the Creators Project London. For those out-of-the-know, The Creators Project is a partnership between Intel and Vice Magazine that self-describes as,”a new network dedicated to the celebration of creativity and culture across media, and around the world.” The New York event kicked off a series of five Creators Project events around the world with stops in London, Sao Paulo, Seoul, and ending with a three-day grand finale in Beijing. Each stop features performances, screenings, and exhibits highlighting the fusion of technology and creativity.Check out my video of the New York exhibit and check back soon… we may or may not be sending one lucky fan to Rio (wink).

Brunch. @Back Forty.
NYC. Sunday. 11 AM.
Ok, I’ll admit it. I was trying for Clinton Street Bakery, but with a three-hour wait, I had to search for an alternate. Enter Back Forty - a sustainably minded spot on Avenue B where a seasonal cocktail or dish isn’t as boring as it may sound. Grab a spot at the twelve-seat bar or one of the communal wooden tables where you can annoy your neighbor with questions about their order (I totally did not do that). Order the Pork Jowl Nuggets with Jalapeno Jam (just don’t try getting a side of Jam, they negged me on that one) and Poached Eggs with Whitebean Ragout on Toast. But the real ticket is the Chicken with Waffles. Don’t skimp on the syrup.
Note: En-route to Back Forty, stop at one of the many small gardens in the area. Be sure to dance like a weirdo… it’s a great way to wake up.

1Bagatelle Bistro.
For New Yorkers, there’s nowhere else to party at noon like @Bagatelle Bistro. This T&C outpost is a bit more refined, offering a great place to people-watch over Spanish influenced cuisine.
Note: Bring your ipod. If you’re lucky, they’ll let you plug it in. “Stereo Love” by Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina is the perfect party starter.
2. Provo Turtle Divers.
Turks and Caicos boasts some of the best diving in the Atlantic. On Salt Cay it’s possible to dive with whales or head to Molasses Reef off West Caicos Island to peek at one of the oldest European shipwrecks. Provo Turtle Divers has got you covered, whether you’re a first timer or an experienced adrenaline junkie.
3. The Veranda at Grace Bay.
Inspired by the white-picket fences of coastal locales like Nantucket, The Veranda at Grace Bay offers a chic, casual allure that will even excite the kiddies. The Veranda Resort has thought of everything- and if they haven’t, your personal concierge can surely find it.
4. Parallel 23.
The glamorous restaurant, Parallel 23, offers a romantic setting to dine al fresco. German chef Torsten Rumprecht arrived at the Regent Palms from St. Martin’s La Samanna, and he has a knack for innovative dishes (the menu lists every last ingredient, literally). A state-of-the-art display kitchen with wood-burning oven and boutique wine list make it one of the islands best.
5. Somewhere Beach Cafe.
Somewhere on the Beach Café is the perfect pit stop for margaritas and salsa. Take a left out of the Gansevoort and stop when you smell the tequila. Walk it all off with a sunset stroll along the beach.

Guests love the remote island for the magnificent white sand beaches and the constant ocean breeze — all of which feel delightfully far from civilization.”
On your vacation to Mustique (home to David Bowie, Shania Twain, & more), which celebs would you want to catch some rays with? Answer here….
