Q&A: Answer It Alesso.

?

Fresh out the frying pan into the fire, Alesso strolled into Capitale this past Friday like a full-blown rock star. And while his mentor-slash-collaborator Sebastian Ingrosso may in fact be the closest thing to Mick Jagger this side of 1976, Alesso is just barely scratching the idol-surface. He scored an Essential New Tune on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio One show with his debut track during Miami Music Week and secured a second on-air play with his remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World”. Now, he’s the kid-heard-round-the-world with “Calling” and playing to topped-out tents at big festivals like Electric Zoo. This past weekend I chatted with the cutie over club soda, virgin club soda, and here’s what he had to say for himself….

JetsetFarryn: Do you sing in the shower?
Alesso: Yes, ha, sometimes.

JetsetFarryn: What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?
Alesso: My phone, wallet and computer.

JetsetFarryn: If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Alesso: I would turn all of the negative in the world into positive. There’d be no hate, just love.

Sit Down. Lauren Bush.

?

Lauren Bush is an Elite Model, a Princeton graduate, a photographer, and a kick-boxer. She has appeared on Friends, been named one of the World’s Sexiest Vegetarians (pretty uncommon for a born-and-bred Texan) and made it on Vogue’s best dressed list (twice). She is the niece of President George W. Bush and granddaughter of George H. W. Bush, and the soon-to-be wife of David Lauren (son of Ralph Lauren). And yet, the most impressive fact about this dynamic 26-year-old is her work traveling the world to find ways to help address huge and important hunger and nutrition crises, through what she knows best — fashion.

In 2007, Lauren Bush launched FEED Projects in conjunction with the UN World Food Program. Her signature FEED bag, a stylish carryall whose proceeds pay to feed one child, for one school year, is now known worldwide as a symbol of hope, love and philanthropy. In honor of Earth Day, I sat down with the CEO, Creative Director and co-Founder of FEED to discuss the epidemic of world hunger, her love of local markets and how to find a bit of the Lauren Bush magic in your own life… and check out Lauren’s favorite Good and Green Hotels now on Jetsetter.

JetsetFarryn: Your work has been so inspired by your travel experiences. Is there one moment that stands out as truly transformational?

Every trip, I feel like I have another moment. And it’s not always about the trip but also about thinking through things after. But, the first trip I took to Guatemala with the UN Word Food Program was really an eye-opening experience.

Sit Down. Armin Van Buuren

!

Armin Van Buuren, Dutch trance producer and the world’s #1 DJ, is taking it stateside on September 5th as the headliner for @ElectricZoo, New York’s premier electronic music festival.

He won’t just be stopping by. After months of hard work and creativity, Armin will be celebrating the release of his fourth album, Mirage, set to drop on September 14th. Inspired and influenced by many different types of music, Mirage is a more mature and diverse AVB creation than ever before.

“Work started two years ago when I actually built a completely new studio for this project,” Van Buuren said. “Many new techniques were used and most of all I had so much fun creating this with the many people that are involved. It was a journey, an epic one!

The album is filled with musical fusions and surprising interpretations, from the orchestral masterpiece of title track “Mirage”, to the deep trance track “I Don’t Own You” and to the eerie “Take A Moment” and feel-good “Drowning”.

The euphoric single “Not Giving Up on Love” is currently scorching across the summer festival terrain. Van Buuren collaborated with singer/songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor and lyrical duo The Nervo sisters to produce the sweet, synth track.

A Moment with Eric Morillo

IntoTheSpotlight caught up with him to discuss his career and his new projects… and I’ll be catching up with him live, tomorrow at @Pacha Ibiza. So listen up….

For over a decade now, Erick Morillo has remained one of the most in-demand and instantly recognisable DJs in the world. From the instant success of his weekly ‘Sessions’ parties in New York, to his coveted residency at Ministry of Sound (he’s still one of the only American DJs to ever hold one) and of course his now legendary Subliminal Sessions parties at Pacha, Ibiza, he now celebrates his 13th historic season at the club in 2010.

Erick, obviously your biggest hit was ‘I Like To Move It’ - what impact has that record had on your career?
