Travel Tuesday

@

And in this week’s edition of the sexiest things I have ever seen, the seductive, post-modern Kenoa Resort in Barra de São Miguel, Brazil. The distinctive character of Kenoa is the result of the shared vison, curiosity and taste of Pedro Marques and architect Osvaldo Tenório.

Located on Brazil’s stunning northeastern coast, caressed by an emerald-colored, seemingly infinite ocean and miles of pristine white beach. Its position just nine degrees south of the equator ensures year-round summer temperatures. When founder Pedro Marques first dreamed up the lush haven at the unearthly beautiful spot, he instantly envisioned the stylish resort would provide for a mental, physical and environmental equilibrium.

Keen on environment-sparing solutions like recycled glass water bottles, tree trunks of reclaimed wood, energy-saving LED lights, locally produced foods, and even non-ironed staff uniforms, the eco-chic retreat’s intimate set-up offers repose for those ready to wind down. Each of the 23 exclusive villas and suites bristles with unique features, from unparalleled views over the neighboring sanctuary, to private pools and outstanding interior design mingled with indigenous works of art. A Shiseido-equipped spa, fitness center with ocean views, winebar, lounge and world-class cuisine tantalize the senses and satisfy the soul… via Design Hotels, Read On, Check In.

Travel Tuesday: Los Angeles Villa
You may not be a real-life star, but while you’re staying at L.A. Villa, you’ll definitely feel like an A-lister. It’s not uncommon to get stuck behind a “Star Tours” van as you wind your way up to this 4,000-square-foot manse in the heart of Beverly Hills; after all, this is prime celebrity real estate (Sylvester Stallone and David and Victoria Beckham live nearby). Pimp out on Jetsetter.com

oundup of my favorite things this week… follow it, don’t judge it!

View. Austyntatious for Art Walk.
Call me a stage mom, call me a big sister, call me her biggest fan, but there are few moments in life as important as your sisters first gallery show. After stints in Michigan, Miami, Thailand and Tel Aviv, Austyntatious has come into her own - and into her own gallery show as part of Miami’s Art Walk. From fine art photography to one-of-a-kind acrylic and Marlboro work (yes, Marlboro), A Controlled Substance opens tomorrow night at Control Gallery in Wynwood… and like any good substance, it will blow your mind. Prices available upon request and stay tuned for full show coverage…

Live. Architectizer for Jay Z’s Life + Times.

Jay Z wants what Jay Z gets, but the rest of us will have to settle for merely viewing it. For example, his latest piece of architecture treats from Architectizer for his editorial venture Life + Times. The article features five seriously swanky beach houses for us to fantasize over, and fantasize I did. As for the rest of the site? The tumblr-esque design is enticing; it displays Jay Z’s (and a few select contributors) influences, loves, wants and dreams but I’m not really sold. What do you think? Share your feedback.

Roundup of my favorite things this week… follow it, don’t judge it.

Music. @SleighBells.

Sleigh Bells, consisting of Derek Miller (producer/guitars) and Alexis Krauss (vocals) has been on my lust list for some time. I told ya once. I told ya twice. But a third time in order when a band this kick-ass comes into my life, and finally into my iTunes. They killed it this past Tuesday at the Ridgewood Masonic Temple in Brooklyn. Derek dropped the bomb backstage that M.I.A wouldn’t be coming out in her PJ’s – he let me cry on his shoulder for hot second. Then Alexis took to the stage like she was ready to rage and dove on top of the drip-sweating crowd. It was magic.

Sweet beats. Vocal funk. Indie vibe. M.I.A. feistiness. Guitar rifts. Smooth vocals. Rocking melodies. Forties flair. Booming bass. Screaming fans. Will.You.Marry.Me?

Tear up their highly anticipated debut album, “Treats” exclusively through iTunes.

Architecture. The Hollywood Sign.

While Heffy & his bunnies were planning a “Save the Sign” Campaign, a 28-year-old architect was thinking big – Hollywood Big. Christian Bay-Jorgensen (the dapper Danish-man of Bay Arch Architecture) said screw saving the iconic landmark; lets make it the Hollywood Sign Hotel.

The hotel letters would be twice the height of the current 45ft-tall sign, and include an observation deck. There will be 308 rooms divided into 10 floors plus various amenities such as a movie theatre, pool area, restaurants, a conference room and a museum.

‘It’s a symbol of dreams and opportunity,’ Bay-Jorgensen said. ‘The Hollywood sign will welcome dreamers, artists and Austrian bodybuilders for generations to come.’

Will it happen? Who knows? But a man with a plan… I approve this message.

Hotel.
Hacienda Benazuza.

When it comes to food, wine and conviviality, the Spanish seem to have it all figured out, and Hacienda Benazuza (otherwise known as the El Bulli Hotel) is the ultimate gourmet’s paradise. Here, recipes created by famed Catalonian chef Ferran Adrià are prepared by his deft protégé Rafael Morales in the hotel’s two-Michelin-star restaurant, La Alqueria. Many foodies are lured by the connection to Adrià and his famed El Bulli restaurant, but they stay to soak up an authentic Andalusian experience, with countless details that stimulate the senses at this 10th-century hillside farmhouse.
