Manic (Month).

!

From Miami to Boston to New York to Atlanta, it’s been a mayhem-and-magic filled month. An art-installation restaurant, a ramen master-master class, a music legend-in-the-making to private flights… my weeks in recap, from start to finish, go!

Dance. @Afrojack at @Pacha.
Friday. January 8.

From pop-up Kanye at the Jane to Umphrey’s McGee at Brooklyn Bowl, the New York music scene has had no shortage of acts this month. 23-year-old Afrojack gave the people what the came for at Pacha - a unique blend of chart topping hits like “Louder than Words,” mixed with clean upbeat rhythms and instrumental favorites like “Zeggie” and “Bounce Little Kitty.” It was one of the craziest nights I’ve ever experienced, but the question is, can the cutie keep up with crowd? Hopefully he’ll drop some new goodies at Coachella

Dine. Market Table.
Thursday. January 13.

Exploring my new ‘hood is no small task. But thankfully I have some foodie-friends who are up for the challenge. Market Table - located on charming Carmine Street, isn’t anything new, or particularly special for that matter. At first glance, its an open, casual dining space with floor-to-ceiling windows and amber lighting. But these are all the fixings of a true neighborhood spot. The exposed brick, candlelit tables and approachable vibe make it a perfect first-date place; the varied, warm yet creative menu (and wine list) make it a place you’ll keep coming back to. Test drive the dory – really, it’s delish for fish.

Cook. Ramen Noodle & Gyoza Cooking Class.

Friday. January 14.

If you know anything about me, you know that my love for Ramen runs deep and true. So when @MNipon shared the news of a Ramen class with none other than Master Hiroko Shimbo, I was sold. Ramen chefs are pretty much perfectionists, and like me, they take their ramen seriously. With thousands of years of recipes and ingredients, it was time for me to take it back to tradition. Author, blogger and Chef-extraordinaire Shimbo led us down a fast 5-hour course of cooking two popular styles (shoyu and miso) and all the details that go with it- yes, I rolled that fatty pork (Rabbi, forgive me). At the end, grab your glass of wine, plate of dumplings and start-a-slurping. “In every bowl of noodle soup there is a drama.”- Hiroko Shimbo… Aka the story of my life.

Oh yeah, I made this. What upppppp? #ramen http://plixi.com/p/70048214

Drink. Riff Raff’s.
Friday. January 14.

It’s too bad I moved out of the ‘hill, because Riff Raff’s, a new underground club/bar is just what the neighborhood ordered. Part tiki-bar (think lais, Hawaiian woods, fruity cocktails), part club (live music, free-flowing tequilla, girls on tables) and part, well, I’m not sure, Riff Raff stands out a place to keep warm in the cold. Hunker down with the neon tiger over the door, or the sexy (truthfully, they are) waitresses applying face paint or the punch bowl of booze.

Ikat wallpaper, face paint, lais. Done, done and done. (@ Riff Raff’s w/ 6 others)http://4sq.com/hSMqFU

Dance. Bunker Club.
Saturday. January 15.

I’m in the hybernation-kinda-mood, so the first time I stepped down into The Bunker, I knew I had found my home for the winter. After years of construction, demolition, building and re-vamping, the 1840-ish subterranean vault (close, but not exactly the old Vento), is now an underground-dance spot, prime for the grooving. There’s red brick arches, black and white checkered tiles, a long-long bar and everything you need to lose yourself in six hours of cozy canoodling.

Pack. @FOX News Atlanta.

Thursday. January 20th.

A quick trip to Atlanta called for flying American Airlines (sorry Delta), sleeping at the W Hotel Midtown and packing like a pro on Fox News.

I’m at Fox 5 Atlanta (1551 Briarcliff Road, Atlanta) http://4sq.com/eZW2Am

Listen. @Andrew Wotman.

Friday. January 21.

It’s hard for me to explain the genius of Andrew Wotman. Born in Long Island to a house-full-of-Who, Beatles and Hendrix, he’s been strumming the bass guitar since he was 11. And to be honest, it shows. The first time I saw Wotman perform he brought tears to my eyes. I thought to myself, “Who on earth is this talented?” Evidently, this guy. Part of the Jared Evan brilliance, Pink Cashmere creativity and Andrew Watt and the Dirty Touch (who debuted at Sullivan Hall), there’s a lot of magic in this little man. Just make sure he’s got his cap on.

Chat. NBC News New York.

Sunday. January 25.

You know the drill. Pack like a pro, at this point I think I’m an expert.

I’m at NBC Studio 1A - Today Show (Rockefeller Plaza, btw 48th & 49th St. and 5th & 6th Ave., New York) http://4sq.com/gpn0DP

Fly. Magellan Jets.

Monday. January 26.

There’s nothing like flying private so I headed to Boston to check-in, and check-out Magellan Jets. There’s no need to arrive two hours before your departure, no check-in line, no pat-down at security or squeezing your bag into the overhead compartment. Instead, there’s guaranteed on-time departure (unless of course you decide to spend more time in Nantucket), pulling up to the plane on the tarmac (exactly the way you see in the movies), advanced security screenings (ok, I sort of miss the TSA) and a plane full of space for you, and your golf bag, too. Board a bad-boy with the Magellan Jets Voyager Gift Card on Jetsetter.com!

Just another day at the office RT @SPREADhouse: Thx @jetsetfarryn for flying me around the world today. http://plixi.com/p/72257301

Eat/Listen/View. What Happens When Art Installation.

Thursday. January 27.

What Happens When… you send me an email titled “a temporary restaurant installation that transforms every 30 days”? Um, I go. Live for 9 months in a reclaimed space in Nolita, the resto/art show changes focus in order to explore the idea of what it means to feed people within the constructs of dining and creativity. You get three courses (unless you’re like @RossZBoss and demand more appetizers) in one abandoned restaurant, with one chef, two designers, one composer and one photographer. It’s just your average month-long resto on the theme of Reflecting. Think about it, take a second.

What Happens When resto-installation… About to start? Will it live up to the @UrbanDaddy hype? http://plixi.com/p/72939369

Dance. @Santos Party House.
Saturday. January 29th.

I needed to new place to exercise, I mean, the gym is getting old. Hello Santos Party House. You’ve been bringing me beats like A-Trak, @DJ Stephen Milner and @DJ Berrie; you’ve been bringing me a buncha-boys (did I mention its two-levels and 8000 sq ft?) and I’m here to say thanks. Don’t let the winter blues get you down. Get down with the bass at Santos – sure to be the spot-du-jour for a dancing detour.
