Manic Monday.

!

We came, we saw, we drove…. what’s better than some grits and gear shifting? Here’s Atlanta by @Pattymayo116 and me, in 36 hours.

Weekend recap from start to finish… go!

GO. Atlanta, Georgia.
Saturday. 8 am.

Step 1: Book a flight on Tuesday, for Saturday morning.
Step 2: Find a friend who is crazy (and incredible) enough to book it with you.
Step 3: Do not, I repeat, do not sleep through your alarm and miss your flight.
Step 4: Board the 8 am to Atlanta via American Airlines (I know, sorry Delta)
Step 5: Splurge on a ‘stang… the convertible is worth the coin.

Lunch. Flying Biscuit.
Saturday. 11:30 am

I’m a simple gal, and @Pattymayo116 knows how to make me smile… breakfast. Any day, all day, no matter where we are, it’s by far my favorite way to get a taste of a place. Enter Flying Biscuit. Situated on a shop-filled-block in Candler Park, Flying Biscuit is a college-coeds dream come true: whole wheat biscuits, organic oatmeal pancakes with peach compote, a hippie vibe and southern smiles.

Stroll. Candler Park.
Saturday. 1 pm.

Be forewarned for a wait at Flying Biscuit. The good news is that Candler Park is an eclectic hood and there are plenty of little shops to keep you busy before biscuits. See: Full Moon Records, or Donna Van Gogh’s artist market for quirky nik naks.

I’m getting the @pattymayo116 special tour #Atlanta RT @berman66: @jetsetfarryn we used to go there all the time in college 12:14 PM Nov 13th via ÜberTwitter

Crash. An Emory Frat House.
Saturday. 2 PM.

Hi. I’m an alumnus of Emory University, and I want to show my friend Farryn here around your fraternity. Ok, thanks…. oh you need to leave? That’s fine by me, enjoy your day. We’ll just be hanging out in your room.” Cue a confused “um sure, ok” and an awkward laugh followed by a “wait, did that just happen?” Oh. It did.
Special thanks to the boys at Beta House.

Next up: crashing an #Emory frat house… Which one will be so lucky? 1:31 PM Nov 13th via ÜberTwitter

Mozy. Virginia Highlands.
Saturday. 3PM.

Developed in the 1900’s, the Virginia Highlands is a historic spot made up of seven villages within walking distance from each other. Burn off brunch with a stroll and relax into the afternoon with a Bloody Mary at Fontaine’s Bar.
See: Bella Cucina and Knitch

Rest. The W Hotel, Buckhead.
Saturday 6 PM.

With a Thom Filicia-designed living room, the rooftop Whiskey Blue bar and an eclectic menu at Market, The W Buckhead was designed with stylistas in mind. It’s got an infinity pool overlooking Peachtree Road and beds to make you melt…. and melt we did. With a brutal 6 am wake up call, it was time for serious shut-eye.

Loving the play of grays and pinks… If only I could make my apartment look like this #design #hotel (@ W Atlanta - Buckhead w/ 3 others) 6:03 PM Nov 13th via foursquare

Drive. Atlanta to Braselton.
Sunday, 6 AM.

The drive from Atlanta to Road Atlanta in Braselton is a breeze…. turn on the turns and head north east for an hour.

@pattymayo116 let’s get our race on…. (@ Road Atlanta) http://4sq.com/cn154g 8:11 AM Nov 14th via foursquare

Drive (Again). @Skip Barber Racing School.
Sunday. 8 am.

You might be wondering, “Why Atlanta?” Well apart from its genius grits, it’s also home to Skip Barber - one of the worlds most prestigious car racing schools - at @Road AtlantaClearly a perfectly normal and stable reason to head to ATL for 36 hours. Skip Barber is held at more than 20 of the countries coolest tracks, offering everything from racing and driving schools to major championships and events. We arrive in Braselton to a ready-to-ride group who run the gamut from husband and wife first timers to a South American car enthusiasts. I’ve got 3 instructors - all with professional driving experience - at my disposal, and after a brief introduction, we hit the road…. and we hit it hard.

Lessons learned:
1. Drivers live up to the hype - I couldn’t help but crush on our seriously awesome instructors - Chris Meredith, Jason Workman and Matt (aka Tanner) Varsha.
2. Pedal to the metal is something you should actually do, when appropriate.
3. It’s all about commitment - something @Pattymayo116 and I had a problem with.
4. Porsche’s are cool.
5. 150 mph is fast, like really really fast.
6. “Look where you want to go, not where you’re going.” Amen.

160 mph. Crazy. #Adrenaline. Woah. 2:19 PM Nov 14th via ÜberTwitter

There’s so much to share on this experience, so check back soon for my full report on Skip Barber Racing Schools… I promise, there’s something in it for you ;)

Grub. @Waffle House.
Sunday 4 PM.

What can I say? I am sucker for breakfast foods. With a a 50 year old story to tell, and over 495,264,367 waffles sold, this was an easy way to end our epic trip.

A present for me.. Not my waistline (@ Waffle House #25)http://4sq.com/7q4tAS 3:32 PM Nov 14th via foursquare
